![]() ![]() ![]() Even just one project's resource consumption info would be appreciated. Now that I know what it's like to run and WCG tasks, can somebody give an overview of what the resource consumptions of the other BOINC projects are like?Īsking this question as 'trialing' through each project one by one over the course of several weeks would be a bit tedious. And the last time they had a steady stream of tasks available, that steady supply only lasted for 9 days. I have not received any work units from them in the last 9 days, except for one day where I was able to manually get some tasks. However, there seems to be a major shortage of tasks right now. I have found that can use a total at least 6GB, up to 12GB of memory with 12 concurrent tasks running (non-Python), whereas World Community Grid seems to only use a few hundred megabytes in total (with 8 simultaneous WUs running), and has a lot less variety in tasks (95% Mapping Cancer Makers, 5% COVID tasks), which I find fairly impressively enough, is only taking up a couple megabytes of disk space on my system, though I have not completed tasks for them in months (I only fired up because at one point had a week long GPU WU shortage). Out of all three along with I have found that uses the most amount of memory and disk space out of them all, and I am a big fan of it as I know it's making at least some good use of my PC's abundant resources. I also crunch for World Community Grid on my lesser powerful computers, and also have done a bit of tasks (which seems to be mostly GPU work units).
